A steady rain, mixed with wind gusts of up to 29 mph, made for a sloppy day at the Shrimp Festival yesterday. While festival-goers braved the conditions, there were a few morning schedule changes forced by the inclement weather. For the first time in over 15 years, the Fernandina Beach High School Jazz Band was unable to preform during their 9:30am slot at the Riverfront stage due to the high winds, and a few vendors delayed opening their tents. Fortunately the weather began to lift in the afternoon, allowing the Pirate Invasion and Ice Cream Eating Contest to initiate the afternoon list of events. Sunday brought eventual clearing for a sunny afternoon with a high in the mid-70's. May 5, 2013 3:22 p.m.
