On October 17, East Coast Greenway (ECG) Relay Riders arrived in Fernandina Beach as part of a 3000 mile relay along the ECG. Representatives from the Friends of the Amelia Island Trails, Inc. greeted the guests upon their water taxi arrival from St Marys, Georgia.

Amelia Island Trails, Inc. hosted a luncheon at Cafe Karibo for ECG officials and riders. Local elected officials, including Nassau County Board of Commission Chairman Danny Leeper and City Commission Tim Poynter, among many officials who supported the efforts of Amelia Island Trails, addressed those in attendance.

As the riders made their way down the east coast, approximately 100 organizations helped support the event. According to ECG, those who participated are “celebrating 25 years, 50 rivers, and 1 Greenway. We’re meeting Greenway friends old and new, honoring the work of local officials (and several governors), and encouraging more people to get out and enjoy this unique route.” The ECG Relay ends October 28 in Key Largo, Florida.
