It may take a village to raise a child, but it took experienced movers to relocate an historic house in Fernandina Beach. Hygema House Movers have now placed the historic Billings House, owned by the Archdiocese of St. Augustine, in its new resting place, just a few yards from its original location on North 5th Street. It now sits on the site previously occupied by the Parish Office for St. Michael Roman Catholic Church. The new location is directly behind the church on the northeast corner of North 5th and Broome Streets.
Note that the house sits on piers, not a solid foundation, to maintain as much of the historic integrity as possible.
Hooray for the additional PARKING.
