A procession of law enforcement personnel and family members left the Jacksonville Medical Examiners officer to bring 29-year-old Deputy Moyers back to Nassau County where he served as a Nassau County Deputy. From Jacksonville to Fernandina Beach, thousands lined the streets and highway as the two-hour motorcade proceeded to Oxley Heard Funeral Home. Moyers was killed in the line of duty after a routine traffic stop in Callahan, Florida.
Shortly before 8 o’clock, the procession made its way down Atlantic Avenue. Among those lining the street were Boy Scouts in uniform, politicians, adults and children, and television crews. For a short time, a drone hovered over the area to capture the motorcade’s arrival.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 2, at Callahan First Baptist Church.
