According to Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Vicki Cannon, who is not seeking reelection:

“For the County Judge and School Board member races where there are more than two candidates in the race and no candidate receives at least 50% plus 1 vote in the Primary, the two candidates with the highest votes will face off in the General Election. For the School Superintendent, OHPA and SOE, the candidate with the highest number of votes in the Primary will be elected to the seat.”

Early voting is currently scheduled for August 7-15, 2020 at polling places soon to be announced.  Registered voters may request mail ballots by clicking here

Cannon also advised that Vote by Mail ballots for Overseas and Absent Stateside Military voters will be mailed on June 30, 2020, and Vote by Mail ballots for Domestic voters will be mailed on July 9, 2020. Sample Ballots will be mailed around July 17, 2020.

So we could have a Superintendent of Schools selected by, say, 35% of the voters! I don’t understand why a plurality is used for some offices while others require a second election to determine the winner on a majority basis.
