On Monday, March 22, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners and Nassau County Sheriff’s Office hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony in celebration of the upcoming Public Safety Training Complex which will be located at 153322 County Road 108 in Yulee.

This State-of-the-Art complex will be spread over 40 acres and will include a variety of opportunities for Sheriff and Fire/Rescue employees to train and conduct drills, to ensure they are always ready to respond in case of an emergency. Long term plans for the facility include training rooms, classrooms, a SWAT Obstacle Course, Gun Ranges, K-9 training area, simulated training area, and even a pond to simulate water search and rescue missions.

There were approximately 60 people in attendance for this historic event. Chairman Thomas Ford started the ceremony by welcoming everyone and expressing his gratitude to the current Sheriff Administration for identifying the need for the complex and doing what was necessary to bring the project to fruition. He also thanked the previous County Commissioners for their foresight and commitment to providing a space that will serve emergency personnel for many years to come. Sheriff Leeper expressed their excitement over the project and provided valuable insight on how the complex will benefit their organization.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We look forward to hosting a Ribbon Cutting with all of you when the time comes.
