Outgoing Nassau County Commissioners Recognized

Yesterday was the last day in office for Commissioners Danny Leeper, Pat Edwards, and Justin Taylor. All three were recently recognized with Resolutions and plaques in appreciation of their service to Nassau County.

Commissioner Leeper served a total of 3 terms beginning on November 18, 2008. During his time as County Commissioner for District One, he earned his Certified County Commissioner and Advanced County Commissioner certifications through the Florida Association of Counties. He also represented the County on the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization Board, the Regional Transportation Committee, the Value Adjustment Board, Tourist Development Council, Animal Control Advisory Committee, Impact Fee and Concurrency Task Force, the Executive Committee of the Small County Coalition Board of Directors, and the Canvassing Board. Commissioner Edwards served two terms beginning on November 20, 2012. During his time as County Commissioner for District Three, he earned his Certified County Commissioner and Advanced County Commissioner certifications through the Florida Association of Counties. He also served as the County’s representative on the Kings Bay Impact Recreation Study Task Force; the Working Group for the Sheriff’s Administration Building; the Canvassing Board; the Economic Development Board; the Community Alliance Board; and the Value Adjustment Board. He also served as a Legislative Delegation Representative and as a Representative on the Florida Association of Counties Board of Directors. To view his Resolution, please click here.

Commissioner Justin Taylor served one term beginning on November 22, 2016. During his time as County Commissioner for District Five, he earned his Certified County Commissioner and Advanced County Commissioner certifications through the Florida Association of Counties. He also served as the County’s representative on the Value Adjustment Board, the Vision Into Action (VIA) Committee, and the Small County Coalition’s Board of Directors. He also led the County’s affordable housing efforts by reestablishing the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and serving as its Chairman. To view his Resolution, please click here.

All three Commissioners gave unsparingly of their time and energy and will be greatly missed by County staff and the citizens they represent. We wish them well in all their future endeavors.
