New Emergency Management Director Appointed for Nassau County

from The County Insider
Office of the Nassau County Manager

11/4/21 @ 11:45 a.m. – Congratulations to Tim Cooper on being appointed as the new Emergency Management Director. Tim has been employed by the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office in different capacities since 1994 and has assisted in emergency operations as Logistics Section Chief since 2015 during hurricanes, wildfires, and most recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Emergency Management Director reports directly to the Sheriff, however during an established state of emergency, he also reports to the County Manager. This allows the Board to be directly involved in decision making during emergencies, particularly as it relates to funding needed to manage the emergency. The Sheriff made a recommendation to appoint Mr. Cooper as Emergency Management Director at the September 15th meeting and the Board confirmed the appointment. He officially began serving as EM Director on Monday, November 1st.

We wish Mr. Cooper the best in his new position and are certain that he has the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully lead the department.
