Traffic Shifts on State Road 200/A1A in Yulee
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will shift eastbound traffic on State Road 200/A1A from I-95 to Still Quarters Road onto new pavement this Sunday, March 3 between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting.
During that time, there will be temporary lane closures on State Road 200/A1A half a mile west of I-95 and half a mile west of Still Quarters Road. These temporary closures allow crews to remove and replace pavement markings.
This project in Yulee consists of reconstruction and widening of 2.2 miles of A1A from west of I-95 to west of Still Quarters Road, widening of ramps at I-95/A1A exit 373 (to Yulee/Callahan/Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach), and the reconfiguration of the interchange under I-95 into the region’s first diverging diamond interchange (DDI).
The widening project increases the roadway from four lanes to six lanes and includes raised medians, bicycle lanes, curbs and gutters, sidewalks and high mast lighting.
The $40 million project is expected to be completed by summer 2020 depending on weather and unforeseen delays.
FDOT to begin mill and resurface of State Road 200 in Callahan
The Florida Department of Transportation will begin a milling and resurfacing project on State Road 200/U.S. 301 from the railroad overpass to Stratton Road in Callahan beginning Monday, March 4.
This work will include milling and resurfacing the roadway, working on curbs, gutters and sidewalks, as well as updating traffic signals and highway signage.
Contractor Duval Asphalt is expected to complete this $1.6 million project in summer 2019, weather and schedule permitting.
The contractor will perform daytime work Monday through Friday. Paving work will occur overnight Sunday through Thursday nights. No lane closures will be permitted Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Lane closures are not permitted on school days one hour before classes begin and one hour after students are released.
Traffic will be maintained in accordance with FDOT design standards throughout the project. When lane closures are needed, drivers will be alerted in advance via portable, changing message signs. Lane closure notices are available online at www.nflroads.com.
