Florida Public Utilities crews worked diligently through the late afternoon and early evening yesterday to restore power to its utility customers on Amelia Island. Around 5:00 p.m. power was lost following an accident on the main power line near the Down Under Restaurant. Nassau County Emergency Management reported there were two injuries.

Early voting was briefly disrupted at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center polling location.  Shortly after the power outage, candidate sign-wavers on Atlantic Avenue said voters were not being turned away.   Later sources  said early voting was eventually closed prior to the 6:00 p.m. closing.

By 8:00 p.m., power was restored.  Florida Public Utilities “apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused.”
