Nassau County Emergency Management: CoViD-19 remains a deadly disease for people over the age of 40, and the spread of many variants of the novel SARS-CoV-2 virus is still a major concern around the world.
Once you are fully vaccinated, you will be able to participate in normal activities without fear of CoViD-19 (unless you are immunocompromised – because there is evidence that people with organ transplants or on immune-suppression medications for other reasons might not develop a good immune response even after full vaccination.) You’ll be able to visit and hug, go to restaurants and shops, and enjoy theaters without wearing a mask. You should still take everyday infection control precautions to avoid catching and spreading other respiratory diseases – always stay isolated when sick, cover coughs and sneezes, wash hands frequently, keep touched surfaces clean, and get vaccinated when you can.
