Members of the Boys & Girls Club deliver gifts to Osprey Village

As part of the Youth for Success Program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County, the teen members developed a community holiday gift collection project to benefit the assisted living and memory care unit of Osprey Village in Fernandina Beach.

With financial assistance from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County Foundation and donations from the community, teens were able to collect and deliver items in time for the holidays. A friendly competition was held among the teens to see who could bring in the most donations with Lamont Spence leading the way along with Ashley & Natalie Little and Destiny Ward.

In all, 40 residents of Osprey Village received boxes that teens stuffed and wrapped, with an additional “grab bag” of additional items that were donated and couldn’t fit into the boxes. The teens delivered the items and visited with the residents as part of a field trip on December 15.

Community service and respect are major components of the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs members. We are very proud of our teen members and look forward to making this an annual event. Teens that participated include: Demi Pollard, Ashley Little, Natalie Little, Lucas Summer, Lamont Spence, Destiny Ward, and Keniya Dixon. Teen program assistant Carol Hays helped coordinate the project and the field trip.
