On Friday, February 19th, Nassau County 8th grade students will have the opportunity to spend a day learning about a career of interest. This year marks the 4th consecutive Career Shadow Day, and the district has added options for families that might have trouble arranging a host.

Students must be registered online at www.nassaucareershadow.com, and forms must be signed by parents and returned to the guidance department at their school. While most students will shadow a parent or family member, students may shadow any business that registers as long as they have parent approval and transportation.

New this year are limited opportunities arranged by the district. For example, up to 15 aspiring electricians may sign up to shadow at the Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville and the school district will provide transportation. A few aspiring computer programmers, computer technicians, and chefs may also sign up to spend the day at the Lewis “Red” Bean Nassau Technical Career Center programs. A couple aspiring accountants or business consultants may sign up to shadow with Cloud Accounting and Consulting. All of these options are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This marks the 3rd year that the district has offered the 8th grade shadow day program.
