Omni Joins Habitat in Drive to Build More Housing

Habitat for Humanity and Omni Amelia Island Resort have formed a partnership to help build three Habitat houses planned for 2023.

Through the state’s Community Contribution Tax Credit Program (CCTCP), Omni will help fund building materials and 200 hours of volunteer time.

CCTCP provides a financial mechanism to encourage Florida businesses to make donations toward community development and housing projects for lower-income persons.

This year, the dream of a home that is affordable and sustainable is out of reach for more Nassau County families than ever before. Nassau Habitat has set a goal to build six new homes annually by 2026 and invites other prospective business partners to join in making the dream of home ownership come true for more families in the local community.

Please visit the Habitat website at nassauhabitatforhumanity.org to see other ways the community can help.

HfH does great work, but it is barely a Band-Aid of a solution to the real problem. We should couple it with a mandate that all development includes a certain percentage of truly affordable housing.
