City of Fernandina Beach
November 11, 2020
Yesterday, the FBPD celebrated Reserve Officer Steve Filkoff’s 10th anniversary with the Police Department as well as his last day as a reserve officer. Steve’s service as a Reserve Officer started in 2010 when at age 59 when he graduated from the police academy. Attending the police academy after retirement from the corporate world was quite the feat given the academic and physical demands.
Steve’s devotion to fulfilling his desire to become a fully certified police officer was well respected and he worked hard serving the Fernandina Beach community by giving his full attention to the Downtown area and coordinating hundreds of special events.
While Steve will be hanging up his gun and badge, he will continue to serve by coordinating the Police Auxiliary Corps and as a member of the Police Foundation. Steve is shown here with his wife Arlene and holding his 10 year service plaque.
Congratulations Steve.
Thanks for your service.
Congratulations Steve and thank you for all your years of service to the community as a Reserve Officer and working with the Police Auxiliary Corps. You and Arlene make a wonderful couple that continues to stay involved and giving to the community.
Be well and take care!
Congratulations & thank you for your service Steve…….let the good times roll!!
Steve, thank you for all the effort and dedication you displayed in your service to our community. You are an inspiration to us all. We will miss your smiling face as you performed your duties to perfection.
Well done!! Congratulations and many thanks!!
Thank you for your outstanding service to our community the last 10-years, as you were an asset to the community. I would also like to APOLOGIZE to your wife Arlene, whom I was told several years ago by our parks and recreation department, that you were the disrespectful individual who I had a conflict with downtown, while I was trying to park in a HANDICAPPED parking spot with my 97-year old DAV of WWII father. The individual I had a conflict with had a white Mercedes Benz SUV ILLEGALLY parked there, while they were doing plant maintenance. I truly apologize, as that woman told me she had permission from Mayor Miller to park there, which he has NO control over. By the pic with your husband, I clearly see it wasn’t you at all. I truly meant no disrespect!!
Mr. Anthony, in a world where folks say lots of things as fact without actual evidence, and where few can acknowledge they might have been wrong, I greatly appreciate your note. My husband and I both love this community and have done our best to contribute what we can to help. For some reason, my efforts have not been acceptable to many, so your note is in that context is even more important to me. Thank you!
