8 Flags Playscapes, Inc. is excited to share this photo of the new Simmons Park, currently in the final stages of construction. The first phase, including a one-quarter mile long universally accessible ADA compliant nature trail, a nature pavilion, ADA compliant restroom facilities, and associated parking for vehicles and bicycles should be open to the public soon. This collaboration with the City of Fernandina Beach will provide a much needed recreational space for families living in this long-neglected and quickly-expanding area of our community. Once the first phase is fully operational, we will be turning our attention to the second phase, which will include the universally accessible nature-themed playground and educational component of the park.

Those of us that live on Simmons do not feel that we are neglected, most of our expansion was 15 to 20 years ago and we did not need or want a park.

Love the new nature park! So convenient for all those already walking/biking the path. Looking forward to its completion!
