Marina work underway, August 24, 2019

Fernandina Beach City Manager Dale Martin on August 23, 2019 provided City Commissioners and the media with an update on work continuing in the city marina and along the waterfront.

He reported that the installation of the South Basin Attenuator continues.  The pace of installation is in keeping with the speed of the fabrication of the dock sections.  Only one to one-and-a-half can be manufactured each week.  But Docks 4, 5, and 6 have been installed.

The city continues to coordinate with FEMA on the North Basin Attenuator.  Martin reports that an on-site meeting with regional FEMA officials and other agencies has been scheduled for the coming week.

Martin has also been meeting with park/landscape architects to review professional services needed for the Waterfront Park.  On-site meetings have been scheduled after which Martin will present a report on those services to the Fernandina Beach City Commission.

He also held a brief discussion with an engineer at the recent Florida League of Cities Conference regarding opportunities for Front Street to be followed by correspondence.  The city continues to review additional commercial opportunities for the waterfront area.

Parking Lot B at the foot of Centre Street remains off limits during marina construction.  However, visitors are reminded that parking remains available in Parking Lots A, C and D.
