After dodging Atlantic storms and delaying an earlier scheduled arrival at the Port of Fernandina, the bulk carrier “Owl” is now headed north up the coast of Florida with an expected arrival in Fernandina during the evening of Tuesday, July 3. The harbor pilot is expected to meet the ship and navigate it through the harbor at 8 p.m. and dockage is scheduled by 10 p.m.
Cargo?
Oats
Yes, oats and a whole lot of sulfer dioxide. Will be an impressive docking nonetheless.
nothing remarkable here, its not the largest vessel to call (G2-Grieg,Gearbulk,Saga called for years with larger vessels, there has been ~42 calls of comparatively sized vessels since 2010 to Fernandina) and arguably not really new biz
the ships size in fact is well larger then needed, maybe it just need a positioning cargo, generally full cargoes well under capacity is suboptimal
You are correct! This evening I learned from two impeccable sources that the Senator Lines, with world container services, once called on the Port of Fernandina weekly. The largest ship to call was M/V Cho Yang World. Thank you for your comment.

I sure would had enjoyed seeing a picture of the ship being docked by those 2 good looking cross state towing tugs.
