Fernandina Beach resident, Jack Love, Fernandina Beach Shrine Club President, was surprised at being named the ‘2019 Shriner of the Year’ by the Morocco Shriners at their Awards Night on Wed, Nov 13, held at the Morocco Shrine Center 3800 S St Johns Bluff Rd in Jacksonville.

The Award was presented by Illustrious Sir Hansford Joiner, Potentate, who recognized Noble Love for his dedication and commitment to the Morocco Shriners and Fernandina Beach Shrine Club.

“Noble Jack is the type of man we most need in leadership positions,” stated Joiner. “He does the job, and does it well, because he knows it needs to be done and not for glory or awards.”

Love has continued to raise contributions for the Shriners Hospitals for Children and promote membership and exciting activities in the Fernandina Beach Shrine Club.

When you meet him, his enthusiasm and love for Morocco Shrine and Fernandina Beach Shrine Club becomes immediately apparent,” Joiner continued. “His disarming sense of humor and laid-back style make him a great fit for Fernandina and contributes to the growth it is currently experiencing!”

There were nearly 100 dinner attendees, Masons, Shriners and their wives from Northeast Florida to enjoy the event.

While people often think of Shriners for their participation in local parades, the organization is best known for the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children that it administers, and the red fezzes that members wear.

The Fernandina Beach Shrine Club is one of the more than a dozen outlying Shrine Clubs which make up the Morocco Shriners headquartered in Jacksonville Florida.

Each year the Fernandina Beach Shriners (as Clowns, riding a motorized “Mule”, being in bands, or driving other miniature vehicles) participate in 9-10 parades from March thru December throughout Northeast Florida communities.

Shriners International (of which Morocco and Fernandina Beach Shriners are a part) is a non-denominational Masonic fraternity based on fun, fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love, relief, and truth. There are approximately 350,000 members from nearly 200 lodges (aka temples) in the US, Canada, Brazil, Bolivia, the Republic of Panama, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Europe, and Australia.
