Fernandina Beach Police “Spotlight” on Beach Ranger Gary Eversole

Fernandina Beach Police Department

March 7, 2022

This week’s employee spotlight is on Beach Ranger Gary Eversole. Gary has been a Beach Ranger since the program started in 2019, but he has been a volunteer in the Police Auxiliary for over a decade. Gary served in the United States Army and then worked as a Brewmaster for National Brewing in Miami for over 38 years. He holds two bachelor’s degrees, one in Brewing Technology and another in Industrial Management. Gary has been married over 50 years and has two sons and two grandchildren.

Getting to know Gary:

Where were you born? New Castle, Pennsylvania. My mother was of Irish descent and my father was Italian.
What is your favorite food? I really enjoy Italian food. Lasagna and sausage and peppers are my two favorites. My Italian grandmother was a wonderful cook!
Do you have any hobbies? My hobby is staying busy and helping where I can in the community. In addition to being a Beach Ranger, I volunteer as a member of the Police Auxiliary Corps and at Baptist Hospital. I also like to play golf in my spare time.
Who is your hero? My father, who passed away in 1986. He was a Marine Corps veteran who taught me the importance of honesty, fairness, patriotism and devotion to family.
What is the best part of your job? I enjoy being part of the public safety family. I have the opportunity to interact with police officers, firefighters and others that contribute to public safety in Fernandina Beach. The many people who make up this “family” and their various life experiences is amazing.
Are you an introvert or extrovert? Friends, family and co-workers would certainly call me an extrovert. I enjoy being around people and I like to see the positives in people.
