Officer Jarell Mitchel

This week’s employee spotlight is on Officer Jarell Mitchell. Officer Mitchell has been with the FBPD for almost 6 years and is currently assigned to day shift patrol. Officer Mitchell previously served as the resource officer at the Fernandina Beach Middle School and currently has the collateral duty of training new police officers.

Getting to know Jarell:

Where were you born? I was born in Jacksonville but raised in Yulee, so I consider myself a Yulee Coolie.

If you were not a police officer what career would you like to have? I enjoy being a police officer, but I would much rather be a professional lottery winner.

How would your friends describe you? I think they would tell you I am friendly and funny, but serious when I need to be.

Who is your hero? My grandfather, he is one of the hardest working people I know and has taught me a great deal about life.

What is the best part of your job? I really enjoy training new police officers; it gives me the opportunity to get to know the new officers and to help them get started in their careers.
