Officer Shane Gothard

This week’s Employee Spotlight is on Officer Shane Gothard. Officer Gothard has been with the FBPD for over 13 years and is currently assigned to the night shift in Patrol. His primary duties focus on traffic crash and DUI investigations, but you will also see him Downtown in the evening, greeting people and making sure things are going well.

Getting to know Shane:

Do you have any hobbies? I like doing anything that gives me time with my family.

Do you have a favorite food? I like all kinds of food, that is one of the benefits of living and working in Fernandina Beach, all of the great restaurants. But I guess I would have to say I really don’t have a favorite, I enjoy a variety of good foods.

Where were you born? I was born in Jacksonville then moved to Nassau County when I was about 5 years old. I’ve been here ever since and don’t want to live anyplace else.

Who is your hero and why? – No doubt, my mother. She raised me to be a hard worker and to treat everyone with the same respect that I would want to be treated with. I am using the lessons she taught me to raise my own family and those lessons also extend to the way I interact with people while serving as a police officer.

What is the best part of your job? – Just like the food – variety. I come to work not knowing what type of incidents or calls I will be responding to, and no two shifts are ever the same. I also enjoy meeting new people and interacting with members of the community.

Fernandina Beach is a great place to work.
