Fernandina Beach Police Department ‘Spotlight’ – Officer James Ennis

Fernandina Beach Police Department
Press Release
April 20, 2022
James was a K-9 officer with the NCSO, but this was the best we could offer him at FBPD.

This week’s employee spotlight is on Officer James Ennis. James was born and raised right here in Fernandina Beach. He served almost 30 years with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and a couple of days after he retired from the NCSO, he came to work with the FBPD. James has been with us for about a year, and he is currently assigned to the night shift in Patrol.

Getting to know James:
If you had not entered law enforcement, what career would you have chosen? Being a local guy, I really enjoy helping the people in my community, so if not law enforcement, I probably would have gone into the Fire/Rescue side of public service.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Ronald Reagan – I’d like to talk to him about the challenges he faced in leading the country and how he made decisions.
Do you have a favorite musical group? I don’t really have one favorite, I listed to a variety of different music from the 50’s all the way up to present day music groups in all categories.
Do you have a favorite food? You can bring me a great big plate of crab legs and I’ll be happy. I also like a variety of other seafood.
If you could learn anything new, what would it be? I wish I knew more about computer technology, but I would also like to learn to fly a helicopter.
Do you have a hero? No doubt it is both my Mom and my Dad. They have both always been there for me and both have taught me important life lessons.
