“Samir shared that his work this month with law enforcement on this topic elicited the best and most robust dialogue that he could recall in more than four years of teaching this topic, primarily to corporate leaders, their teams, non-profits, and community groups.”

Many thanks to our local friend Samir Gupte for facilitating three comprehensive half-day training “conversations” this month, on the role of unconscious bias in building inclusive communities.

Samir took on the entire Fernandina Beach Police Department team including leadership, sworn police officers and support staff through the “changing demographics of our great city, and the theory and manifestation of this aspect of our humanity.” We concluded with individual commitments to continue to build and spread inclusion and connection throughout Fernandina Beach.

Samir shared that his work this month with law enforcement on this topic elicited the best and most robust dialogue that he could recall in more than four years of teaching this topic, primarily to corporate leaders, their teams, non-profits, and community groups.

He told the classes that he has visited 63 countries, 47 states and lived in over a dozen places in America, and that he continues to rank Fernandina Beach/Amelia Island as the most magical place on the planet, mainly because of the people.

“In my experience,” he said, “that is truly reflected in our police department.”
