Fernandina Beach City Manager Dale Martin has advised that the bid opening for the southern attenuator will be delayed from its originally scheduled date of June 25 to June 29, 2018.  The delay is based on the recommendation of Rob Semmes, the city’s marina consultant (ATM).

Semmes recommended that the City postpone the scheduled bid opening in anticipation of receiving better bids by giving bidders a few more days to work with suppliers on prices.  Martin said, “Given the anticipated delay in supplies and materials discussed Tuesday evening [at the City Commission meeting], I do not believe that the postponement of the award to August 7 will negatively impact the project; therefore, I concur with Mr. Semmes recommendation. Mr. Semmes will advise the affected contractors of this extension.”

In an email exchange, Semmes expressed his belief that the short delay would not adversely impact the projected finish date of Shrimp Fest 2019.

Cool photo. That is Lonnie Freeman from Fernandina on far left, my uncle Bill Monroe and his two older daughters. The boat was owned by Jack King ,a Ford Dealer from Waycross.

The real story would be to report how much money has been sunk into that mud hole. “Mud slips”
