The City of Fernandina Beach expressed its gratitude to John Mandrick for over 17 years of service with a Proclamation at their November 4, 2020 Regular Meeting.  Mandrick, who retired at the end of October, began work with the City as Utilities Department Director in March 2003,  During his tenure City utilities have been well-maintained, improved, and expanded.  His efforts to save money for the City and its residents included introducing solar energy systems to power much of his department’s infrastructure.

Mandrick, who attended the meeting with his wife and some of his grandchildren, expressed  his gratitude to the City and recapped some history.  He closed by saying that  he was leaving the City’s utilities in better shape than they were when he arrived.

Commissioners each shared reflections on their dealings with Mandrick over the years.  Mayor John Miller presented John Mandrick with a copy of the Proclemation and a plaque honoring his retirement from the City.
