City proclaims National Friends of Libraries Week, October 18-24, 2020

Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller presented representatives of the Fernandina Beach Friends of the Library with a Proclamation that both declared National Friends of Libraries Week and recognized the Fernandina Beach organization for their fundraising and volunteer work to better the City’s branch of the Nassau County Library System.

Miller said that their work the Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library enables our local library to provide invaluable community resources which offer opportunities for all citizens to engage in the joy of life-long learning and connect with the thoughts and ideas of others from ages past and present.

Miller said, “Friend volunteers routinely contribute thousands of hours each year to the betterment of our library. Their gift of time and commitment sets an example in how volunteerism leads to positive civic engagement to the overall benefit of our community.”

In accepting the Proclamation Friends President and Volunteer Chair Jody Mackle thanked the City and reminded the community that plans for the next book sale are underway.
