CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS:
LAWSUIT – City Attorney Tammi Bach reported the recent Isle De Mai litigation shade meeting transcript has been ordered and will be available in approximately two weeks. A meeting will be held Friday November 12 with city staff and Isle De Mai homeowners and a resolution regarding the settlement of the case will be presented at the November 16th City Commission Regular Meeting.
BRETT’S WATERWAY CAFÉ – APPEAL: City Attorney Bach explained Centre Street Restaurant Group appeal of the City’s Notice of Unsafe Structure was denied by the Board of Adjustment (BOA) at their October 20, 2021, meeting. Centre Street Restaurant Group has 15 days from October 28th to file an appeal. Further engineer and structural reports will be forthcoming. City Attorney Bach commended the BOA for their work and acknowledged all parties commitment to resolve.
ATLANTIC SEAFOOD LEASE – City Attorney Bach reported ongoing discussion with Atlantic Seafood owner Ms. Anne Coonrod and anticipates forthcoming project plans as the resiliency project continues.
CITY CLERK REPORTS:
ADVISORY BOARD/COMMITTEE VACANCIES: City Clerk Caroline Best reported the following advisory board/committee vacancies: Airport Advisory Commission: one vacancy, Code Enforcement and Appeals Board: one alternate #2 vacancy, Community Redevelopment Advisory Board: seven vacancies, Marina Advisory Board two vacancies, Public, Educational and Government (PEG) Committee: two vacancies. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the City Clerk’s office or visit the City website to access the online application.
So now it appears we are being told that the seawall resiliency project in Lots C & D can be stopped short of the Atlantic Seafood leased property to allow the building to remain operating. What will that cost be? Leads me to conclude that my original assertion that the triggering of Clause 30 of the current lease was contrived to allow Ms. Coonrod an opportunity to build a new business enterprise and not simply replace the Atlantic Seafood operation. This whole “deal” has had a distinct odor to it from the very start.
