Burglary suspect nabbed – Charged with 3 counts

An example of community and police working together.

Danny Ray Grantham, Jr. from Douglas, Georgia DOB 10/22/74.
Over the weekend a person saw a male on the docks at the Marina acting in a suspicious manner and then boarding a yacht. The witness didn’t think things looked right so he called the police and members of our Charlie Squad night shift responded. They located the subject and determined that he had burglarized the yacht and had been rummaging through items on board.
Once the suspect was taken into custody, officers tied him to a residential trespass in the downtown area that had occurred earlier in the evening. Officers continued to follow up on the case and the next day connected the suspect to a residential burglary in the downtown area. He is now charged with two counts of burglary, trespass and theft.
A great example of our community members reporting suspicious activity that resulted in getting a “bad guy” off the streets.
If you see something suspicious, give us a call – don’t hesitate. We would rather respond to 100 calls where it turns out to be nothing than to miss 1 call that was something.
