After 40 years of service, Fernandina Beach Police Officer steps down

Sgt. Mitch White

City of Fernandina Beach
May 4, 2021

This is Mitch White. Today is a bitter sweet day for the FBPD. It not only marks 40 years that Mitch has been a member of the FBPD, but it is also Mitch’s last week of serving with us. Mitch spent his first 31 years as a full time police officer, with a majority of those years as a sergeant supervising younger officers.

Mitch retired from full time service in 2012 but stayed with us in a part time capacity covering vacant shifts, working special events and filling in where we needed him.

Mitch, CONGRATULATIONS ON 40 years of service and CONGRATULATIONS on finally hanging up the gun belt to explore the bigger world out there. You are appreciated and you will be missed.
