A new Harvard University connection

Editor’s Note: Years ago when  Fernandina locals heard the name Adele, only one person came to mind and that was Adele Fishler, wife of Hymie Fishler, a former Fernandina attorney, city attorney, and bank president.  The Fishlers were an important part of our community.

It was exciting to learn that Adele Fleet Bacow, the Fishler’s niece and namesake of Adele Fishler, is the wife of  Lawrence Bacow, Harvard University’s newly appointed president.  Although Adele Bacow grew up in Jacksonville, she and her family visited Fernandina often.  Bascow’s mother, Margaret Fishler Fleet, was born in Fernandina and attended St Josephs Academy.  We thank Harvard University for sending us this photo of the happy couple.
