All About the Blues

The Amelia Blues Project came together in Fernandina Beach when Alain Le Lait, Michael Spicer, Jeff Malone, and Dan Chellemi first got together to sound out their life-long collective interests in the Blues. It took only a few minutes together to notice that something special was happening. Alain, on guitar and vocals, is a regular on the island music scene. Michael plays bass in the group and provides the bottom that the rest of the band stands on. Jeff deftly handles the drums and percussion offering a light touch when needed but drives it home when the songs require it. And then there’s Dan: he loves playing music with friends and laying down some kick-ass blues harp licks .Collectively known as the Amelia Blues Project, their set lists draw from the depths of the traditional and modern Blues catalogues. Most of their tunes are familiar to all music lovers, adding their own interpretations to the music of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Reed, T-Bone Walker, Taj Mahal and even the Rolling Stones. In addition, you never know what other guest musicians might be invited to sit in on a particular gig. It’s been known to get a little crazy at some shows when the unexpected can always happen!
