After a year of bringing dance on Amelia Island to life from a distance, the Amelia Island Dance Festival will again welcome a live audience in September, with a program featuring acclaimed and accomplished dancers who have performed on international stages as well as a weekend of public workshops.

Performances will be September 10th and 11th at 7:30pm at Amelia Community Theatre.Tickets can be purchased on ameliacommunitytheatre.org and selected sponsorship opportunities are still available.

The Festival is not only a unique opportunity to watch dance, it invites participation in a weekend of workshops with top teachers that will bring out the dancer in everyone.  Open to all levels, workshops spanning different dance styles will take place on Friday, September 10th and Saturday, September 11th at locations including Royal Amelia Dance Academy, Crane Island, Amelia Community Theatre, and Club 14 Fitness. 2021 Guest Artists will be EAST by NORTH DANCE THEATRE, John Manzari, and Carlos Garland.  Mal Stein, accomplished musician/composer will be joining to accompany most of the dance classes and events.Moving forward, the annual festival will be held each September and the Amelia Island Dance Festival will continue to form community relationships through the enjoyment of dance, inspired by the island’s natural beauty.

EAST by NORTH DANCE THEATRE

Based in New York City, EAST by NORTH represents the unrestricted and improvisational spirit that symbolizes a new wave of modern theatrical dance.Founders Sarah Nachbauer and Jon Eden have toured and performed as soloists in over 15 countries and in some of the world’s most prestigious theaters. The duo has performed on Season 8 of ‘America’s Got Talent,’ where they made the final round, as well as in music videos for MGMT and ARK and in corporate events for Mercedes-Benz, Aveda, and Marriott among others. Their  work has been reviewed as “A highly intimate display of body control,” “Elegant,” “Mystical”  and “The perfect blend of fluid movement and stillness.”

John Manzari

John Manzari is an Ovation Award and Helen Hayes Award nominated performer, teacher, and choreographer who is best known for tap dancing. Stage credits include ‘42nd Street’, ‘Maurice Hines: Tappin’ Thru Life,’ ‘The Wiz is 40: A Celebration in Dance and Music,’ Duke Ellington’s ‘Sophisticated Ladies’, and Apollo Club Harlem. Television credits include ‘The View,’ PBS special’ Michael Feinstein at the Rainbow Room,’ The Jerry Lewis Telethon, and the season seven finale of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ John can be seen in the documentary about his mentor ‘Maurice Hines: Bring Them Back.’

Carlos Garland

Originally from Jacksonville, Carlos Garland has toured internationally and became a top 20 finalist on ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ Along with his dance crew Systematic, Carlos won BET’s 106th and Park Dance Competition twice in a row.  He performed with the Broadway cast of ‘Spider-Man Turn off the Dark’ in their final Gypsy of the Year performance and with the company iLuminate, as seen on ‘America’s Got Talent.’  The founder and CEO of Dancelook LLC, Carlos is currently a performer at Universal Studios and Walt Disney World.
