A Pop-Up Fundraiser for the Amelia Island Museum of History’s Archives
Wednesday, November 13, 3 – 5 pm
AIMH Baker Hall, 233 S. 3rd Street
$8 per person or bring a Veteran and you are both half price ($4 each).
Veterans Day is traditionally November 11 but is one day sufficient to thank all those in our community who have served in the armed forces? The Amelia Island Museum of History thinks not!
On Wednesday, November 13, 3 – 5 pm, the AIMH Archives will offer a very special Tea and Tell. John Martin, former Nassau County Veterans’ Affairs Officer will open the meeting with a greeting. Dave Roeser, AIMH Board member and Army and Coast Guard veteran will moderate as we recognize those we know and love who have served or are serving in the armed forces. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day’s primary purpose is to honor living veterans whether they were enlisted in war or peace by thanking them for their sacrifice and service. Please bring a photo, uniform, or piece of memorabilia that symbolizes the Veteran you would like to honor. The person you are honoring need not be present. Please be prepared to share a brief (2 -3 minute) story about the person’s service. We will enjoy seeing each other’s objects and hearing one another’s stories as we sip beverages and munch on baked goods.
Proceeds of Tea and Tell will be used to purchase specialized archiving materials.
WANT TO SHARE: Reserve a “Tell Time” by contacting Jayne Nasrallah, Archivist [email protected]
WANT TO LISTEN: Reservations for tea and the pleasure of seeing these memorable objects and photos and hearing these stories would be appreciated but are not necessary. Contact Jayne as above. Donations are cash at the door.
