On March 26, County Manager Shanea Jones notified the Nassau County Board of Commissioners that she will be resigning from her position effective July 2. After serving as Nassau County Budget Director, Jones was hired as County Manager in February 2017, to replace retiring county manager Ted Selby.
“At this point in my life, I need to reallocate my time to focus more on family. It has been an honor to serve the community for the last 14 years. I am so grateful for the opportunity and the confidence the Board has placed in me.”
Shanea graduated from Fernandina Beach High School and received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Florida. She began working for the County in 2004 and has worked in various positions including Budget Coordinator, Director of the Office of Management & Budget, and as Assistant County Manager.
Best wishes to Ms. Jones. After reading the tea leaves on the County’s financial situation, who could blame her as it is going to be an 80-hour a week job keeping all the balls up in the air.
