City of Fernandina Beach
July 1, 2021
Four traffic calming devices were painted in heavy violation speeding areas in an attempt to slow people down. As a reminder, most city residential streets are 25 mph (posted or non posted).
Pictured here are the two most senior employees in the City- Captain David Bishop and Rex Lester. Excellent collaboration between the Streets Maintenance Department and the Fernandina Beach Police Department.
Parking over night parking in the streets doesn’t help either should be Against the law you see people parking on the side walls bicycle past all the time 18 wheelers coming down 14th St.
What about the stretch between Sliders and the round about on S Fletcher??
It certainly would be nice to see something done to deter the constant “ILLEGAL” left-turns onto Centre Street heading South bound at North 8th Street for the past 15-years I’ve lived here, as they’ve tried signs (2) and huge-lettered road paint, but none of it has worked. It sure would be nice if the new Chief of Police of FBPD “ENFORCED” this to put an end to the violators there once and for all. We can put SIGNS up and paint the road all we want, but without proper “ENFORCEMENT”, it’s nothing but a waste of time and money.
