Fernandina Beach, June 29, 2021–The American Business Women Association (ABWA), Eight Flags Charter Chapter, held its first annual ABWA Extravaganza–an evening of food, fun, Fashion, and Celebrations at the Golf Club of Amelia Island in mid-June. This chuck-full evening featured fashions from Twisted Sisters and Go Fish and commentary to help women dress for success on a budget. Members and scholarship winners modeled the delightful and versatile apparel.
At the event, Lisa Rosenblum was honored with the chapter’s first-ever Protégé Award; the award recognizes a member of fewer than two years who has worked to foster the chapter’s goals and increase membership. Rosenblum served as the treasurer of the chapter this year.
The Women of the Year committee had three nominees, Marie Rizzo Fenn, Lillie Marie Rogers, and Lisa Rosenblum. All were honored by the crowd of more than fifty women at the Extravaganza.
Evaluation Committee Chair Cherie Nikosey announced the winner–Lillie Marie Rogers.
Rogers serves as the current President. She is a retired nurse and education turned entrepreneur. Members said, “Lillie has been a nurturing and humble leader; as President, she has exemplified ABWA values and guided the chapter with heart and integrity. In addition to her role as President, Rogers served as a member of the Mentoring Committee. She participated in all fundraising activities and represented ABWA in the community. Lillie’s energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the chapter have inspired members and set the bar for professionalism.”
In accepting the award, Rogers said, ” I am honored to receive this award! However, this honor belongs to all the women in our chapter. I accomplished what I did with lots of help and support! Thank you!”
