Not uncommon for bones of our previous peoples to be found. Several religious buildings predating the civi war era had been found over the years.

Pure speculation but maybe some of the remains of Crane Island’s Sarah Alice Broadbent?

There’s also the chance they’re remains of a past murder and the remains were buried in the yard by the homeowner, which is not uncommon.

I was telling my wife that these may be the remains of Sarah Alice Broadbent from Crane Island. Interesting that Dave came up with the same idea. The location the remains were found is in the area of the route she used to walk from her island home to Fernandina for supplies. If the remains are female and date around the time she was last seen, it would certainly be worth looking into…..then the question is “who did her in…”
