Every spring Horseshoe Crabs, ancestors of animals dating back more than 400 million years, appear on Amelia Island beaches. Find out more about these fascinating creatures and what we can do to preserve this species for future generations.  Please join Wild Amelia on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 pm for this event.

The speakers for this event are Kathy Mason and Joyce Tuten. Kathy has been a leader of the Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch in Nassau County since 2018. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Emory University and a master’s degree in marine biology from the University of Maine. Joyce is a retired high school science teacher and a NOAA Climate Steward Educator. She is currently working on her Florida Master Naturalist designation.

Due to continuing city restrictions on the number of attendees at Peck Center events, we will again offer Wild Nites via Zoom.  To participate please connect to Zoom with the following link: https://bit.ly/3jdcjrW.  Or using Meeting ID: 839 9974 3007 and Passcode: 596504.

I highly recommend attending any of these Wild Amelia events, as they are very informative about our island’s natural history. This one about horseshoe crabs should be particularly fascinating.
