Cheryl Grant, Chair of the Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (PRAC), appeared before the Fernandina Beach City Commission (FBCC) on March 15, 2022 to provide an update on the Committee’s accomplishments and goals.

Grant highlighted accomplishments in 2021, including the 18-question Parks and Rec Survey which netted more than a thousand responses from City residents.

She discussed PRAC’s mission and goals for 2022 which include implementing plans adopted in 2021 and revisiting the 2005 Parks Master Plan, which does not appear to be aligned well with today’s needs.

Grant said that one of PRAC’s goals is to develop and implement a new Central Park playground, in cooperation with the Girl Scout’s Council which has agreed to assist in fundraising for the project.  PRAC also plans to research and apply for available grants.

She asked for questions or concerns from Commissioners, but there were none.
