Press Release
Alejandro Barbero
DIRECTOR,
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
Rayonier
March 15, 2022
Rayonier is grateful for the State Attorney’s Office’s efforts seeking accountability for the crimes committed against Rayonier, Raydient and the citizens of Nassau County.  Rayonier raised its concerns regarding Mullin’s conduct years ago, but instead of taking simple steps to mitigate the issues, the County ignored them and instead gave Mullin more control over County affairs, doubling his salary in the process.  Rayonier is disappointed that the County failed to act on their own to remove a clearly compromised County Attorney, all the while wasting tax dollars litigating to defend his bad advice and him personally in multiple litigation matters.  Even now, the County continues to waste significant resources defending Mullin, despite several judicial decisions finding his advice to be wrong and, according to the State Attorney’s Office, criminal.
Rayonier continues to look for ways to move past this dark episode for the greater benefit of the citizens of Nassau County.  We are optimistic that with the forced removal of the County Attorney, the County will now move forward in a more constructive and transparent way.
[FO NOTE:  The State Attorney’s memorandum has been published separately in the Fernandina Observer.]

Wow. Sour Grapes for sure! I would have fired the Communication Director for issuing such a nasty, vindictive press release. PR101 – sometimes you just have to hold your tongue and move on! Rayonier won’t make too many friends with this release.

While all citizens will be better off without Mullin, this is petty and vindictive. The brief spoke for itself and then Rayonier had to go and do this……Hope you feel better about yourselves!

I agree, Collin Fordham. Likewise, Rayonier’s needless chest beating speaks LOUDLY to the way they went after Mr. Mullin from the beginning, MM’s stupid mistakes notwithstanding. One could tell from the start, Rayonier was going get Mr. Mullin, come hell or high water; this victory lap proves they got what they went for.

This is the part that needs to stand out in everyone’s mind. Even after we all knew that laws had been broken, the county chose to spend a LOT of money to defend Mullin. Not only with the Raydient/Wildlight issue, but also the wrongful termination of the former Budget Manager.
Rayonier hopes to move past this and be able to return to a normal relationship, but everyone needs to see that it was not them that caused this!!

What’s that smell? It appears residents of Nassau County finally have an answer.
Many have been sharing complaints about a sewage-like smell for years, and the county believes it’s narrowed down the source to a sludge site in Yulee that’s owned by Rayonier Advanced Materials.
