Fernandina Beach, FL (March 2022)

Friends of the Fernandina Beach Library (FOL) are excited to announce the opening of their latest art exhibit “Art and Lure of the Fish in Florida.”  It will run March 1 thru June 30, 2022, during the return of the Fernandina Beach Eight Flags Shrimp Festival and will showcase the lure of fishing in Florida.

The exhibit features many different examples of fish art and memorabilia – all on loan from such well-known community members as Billy Burbank of Burbank Trawl Makers, Captain Terry Lacoss of Amelia Angler Outfitters, Charles Corbett from former Nassau Fertilizer and Oil Company and Captain Bunny Sterling. Other notable pieces are on loan from Steve Leimberg, Jody and Doug Mackle, Peggy Bulger, Joanne and Steve Roach, Ken Krassy, Debbie Lippe, and Diane Pusillo..

The ”Art and Lure of the Fish in Florida” features many different art techniques including mosaic, photography, oil and acrylic, lithograph, woodworking, fiberglass, ceramic, and rug hooking.  It also provides information on the Fernandina Beach history of shrimping and pogy fishing industries which are a piece of our past and current history.

The exhibit is open during normal library hours unless there is a community meeting in the exhibit room.
