 Featuring Over 50 Screenings, Block Party, Premieres, Conservation Tour, MovieMaker Pitch Competition, Amelia Icon Awards Gala

The Amelia Island Film Festival today announced its return to screens February 24 – 28, 2022 for its 15th edition. The 2022 screening schedule includes a diverse selection of over 50 films ranging from Academy Award-winning shorts to groundbreaking features. This year’s Festival boasts an exciting variety of screenings, receptions and events with a particular focus on ecological sustainability and platforming diverse voices in the film industry.
The Opening Night Block Party and Premiere will be held outdoors on February 24 on Centre Street in historic downtown Fernandina Beach. The Block Party will feature a stage with live music and entertainment, food truck park, bar, red carpet and vendor showcase. The Opening Night film screening, 2022 Academy Award-nominee for Best Picture King Richard, will also be held outdoors on Centre Street. The Opening Night Block Party is free and open to the public.

On Friday, the Festival will launch the 2022 Sustainable Horizons program with spotlight screenings including Stranded: A Whale Rescue Tale followed by a VIP Safari-style Tour of White Oak Conservation. The Sustainable Horizons Tour at White Oak will include a private tour including southern white rhinos, okapi, giraffes and tigers followed by a waterfront reception. The program will conclude with riveting documentary features The Dark Hobby and FISH & MEN.

Screenings will be held throughout the festival at Lighthouse Screening Room at host hotel The Courtyard by Marriott and other select venues. Films in competition include Narrative Features Night, Mother and Americanish as well as Documentary Features One Pint at a Time and 2022 GRAMMY nominee Leftover Feelings: A Studio B Revival. Media partner MovieMaker Magazine will host a Pitch Competition at the Filmmakers Lounge for passholders to have the opportunity to double their next production budget.
The 2022 Amelia Icon Awards Gala at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island will begin at the Plaza Ballroom with a red carpet reception featuring music, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The following Amelia Icon Awards Show will feature live entertainment, dinner and the Amelia Icon Awards in categories including Narrative Feature, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Student Short, International Short, and Hollywood South. The Amelia Icon Awards Gala will be hosted by film and television star Alpha Trivette from the #1 Netflix Show, Sweet Magnolias. The Closing Night Premiere will be Academy Award-nominee, Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
