Monday, February 21, 2022, is Presidents’ Day

Presidents’ Day was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, America’s first president. The federal holiday became known as Presidents’ Day, honoring all U.S. presidents past and present, when it was moved to the third Monday of February as part of 1971′s Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday.  There is no mail delivery, federal courts are not in session, and the stock markets as well as most banks are closed.  Nassau County offices will also be closed.
