Where were you 25 years ago? Were you one of the 52,000 people who lived in Nassau County? Did you know about Take Stock in Children making college dreams come true? Twenty-five years ago, a small group of dedicated educators and supporters established TSICN in response to persistent high school dropout rates among Florida’s most under-resourced youth. Since 1996, Take Stock in Children of Nassau County (TSICN) has been helping disadvantaged youth improve their prospects for college and career by delivering mentoring and college tuition scholarships. These efforts have helped over 600 Nassau County students pursue a post-secondary education. 100% of last year’s TSICN graduates are enrolled in colleges and universities including University of Florida, Florida State University, University of Central Florida, and Howard University.

TSICN is celebrating those 25 years of remarkable achievement by hosting the Light up a Life Gala on March 10 at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. The Silver Anniversary festivities will start with celebratory champagne. During the cocktail hour you can browse the silent auction and bid on a wide array of items and experiences donated by generous local businesses and artists. A three-course dinner will follow, prepared by Ritz-Carlton chefs. The evening continues with dancing to the classic hits of Vox and a live auction. The live auction, co-hosted by former TSICN Board Chair Arlene Filkoff and Commissioner Bradley Bean, highlights a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee; a stay at a holiday villa on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia; and bidder’s choice of either a wildlife tour for six or golf and lunch for four at White Oak. We invite you to join us for this festive evening by visiting our website to purchase tickets at takestocknassau.org. All proceeds from the gala support the TSICN program. TSICN and the Ritz-Carlton are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our guests.

Since 1996, the population of Nassau County has grown to approximately 94,000. This year, 150 Nassau County students are receiving mentoring and guidance through TSICN. Graduates of the TSICN program receive a four-year college tuition scholarship through the Florida Prepaid Foundation. The amount of contributions determines how many scholarships can be purchased in any given year. Take Stock in Children is a non-profit organization in Florida. It provides an escape from the cycle of poverty through education. Your contribution delivers hope for success in college, career, and life.
