Editor’s Note:  Tuesday, February 8, WJCT will present “Marian Anderson: The Whole World in Her Hands.”  Raymond Arsenault, Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1965, will participate in the documentary. 

 

 

PBS television on Tuesday evening, February 8, at 9 pm EST, when the world premiere of “Marian Anderson: The Whole World in Her Hands” will be broadcasted nationally.

Directed by Rita Coburn, who won an Emmy for her 2016 documentary on Maya Angelou, the two-hour documentary on the incomparable contralto and civil rights icon (“the Jackie Robinson of classics music”) is based in part on Arsenault’s 2009 book, “The Sound of Freedom: Marian Anderson, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Concert That Awakened America.”
