Arrest made in South 13th Street homicide – Updated information

On Sunday, October 24, 2021, at approximately 9:05pm, Officers responded to 406 South 13th Street unit B in reference to a wellbeing check. Entry was made into the residence through an unlocked door. Upon checking the interior of the residence, Colleen Marie Potts who was 73 years old of Yulee, Florida was located deceased.

As part of the investigation, earlier today, the Fernandina Beach Police Department along with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office served search warrants at a residence in Fernandina Beach. The results of the search warrants coupled with additional evidence developed during the investigation led to the arrest of local resident Shawn Lamont Wigham.

Update:

Wigham, 47 years old, who had previously done handyman work at the residence and was familiar with the residence where Potts died, is currently charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Homicide charges are expected to be filed Friday.
