Deputy Chief Jeff Tambasco, informed the Fernandina Observer that a Town Hall Meeting, hosted by the Fernandina Beach Police Department, will be held at the Martin Luther King Center to discuss the South 13th Street homicide on Wednesday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m.

According to Tambasco, “We will provide an overview and an update; however, it is an active investigation therefore we cannot provide particulars.  We have Crime Stopper signs out and we have disseminated press releases asking for anyone who has information to contact either us or Crime Stoppers.”

On October 24, 2021, Colleen Potts, a well-known petsitter, was found dead in a single family residence on South 13th Street near Date Street in Fernandina Beach. After the homicide, police reached out to the community for information and sent a press release asking the public’s help after suspecting someone might have entered Potts’ unlocked white Kia Soul the night before her death.
