Special event November 19 at Story & Song Bookstore and Bistro
Amelia Island, Florida. (November 11, 2021). Story & Song Bookstore and Bistro will host a special event November 19 at 4 PM featuring Dickie Anderson, author of the newly released book, Great Homes & Churches of Amelia Island. Anderson, island author, and docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History has written a book that celebrates the beautifully preserved homes and churches found in the island’s historic district.
Story & Song supports local authors by featuring special events that allow attendees to interact with authors and purchase signed books. During the program, co-owner Donna Paz Kaufman will be in conversation with Anderson about her passion for the history of Amelia Island and especially the homes and churches found in the island’s Historic District. There will be time for questions. Anderson shared, “The book tells the stories of the people who built and owned the Victorian period homes in our Historic District. It was a glorious time on our island; the so-called Golden Era. The new edition has added nine churches.”
“Dickie Anderson is known as one of the most vocal supporters of Amelia Island and we are thrilled that she has updated her book,” said Kaufman, “with all of the changes downtown, it will be interesting to learn about the ownership transitions and updates to Fernandina’s most prized historic homes.”
Signed copies of Great Homes & Churches of Amelia Island will be available for sale. Complimentary copies of Pleasures of Porch, a collection of Anderson’s columns printed in the Fernandina Beach News-Leader will be given free to those who make purchases.
