Veterans Day Parade Downtown Fernandina Beach–Thursday, November 11, 2021 11 am
Hosted by American Legion Post 54
Veterans Day is a tribute to military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The parade route starts at Central Park on Ash Street and proceeds west to 2nd Street, then north on 2nd to Centre and east on Centre back to Central Park.
The American Legion Auxiliary will have poppies available along the parade route (donation requested).
Veterans Day occurs on November 11 every year in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I, known as Armistice Day. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.
The Exchange Club of Fernandina Beach will be going ahead of the parade today, giving American Flags to children along the parade route.
This is a long held tradition of the Exchange Club, as a patriotic community service club.
Those interested in learning about our club may inquire of the members giving out the flags.
Post 54, located at the end of 3rd St just prior to Gum, will be open to the public today thru Saturday. Come check it out. If you are a veteran, or related to one, think about joining as a member.
